Hankin Group’s 35th Annual Golf Invitational recently raised a record-breaking $275,000 for the benefit of Handi-Crafters.
Almost 250 golfers gathered at the Whitford Country Club in Exton on the first Monday in October to raise funds for the Thorndale-based nonprofit that operates a work center that empowers individuals with disabilities to lead more independent, productive, and fulfilling lives.
“We couldn’t be happier with the turnout for this year’s event,” said Michael Hankin, Chief Operating Officer of Hankin Group. “There was representation of more companies than ever before, and we couldn’t be more thankful for everyone’s support. Handi-Crafters truly makes such a difference in the community, and it’s an honor to be a part of their influence.”
Since 2014, the year it began designating proceeds from its annual corporate golf outing to benefit Handi-Crafters, Hankin Group has helped to raise approximately $1.7 million for the organization.
Along with presenting sponsor Bentley Systems, Hankin Group hosted various hole contests, on-course refreshment stations, a luncheon, and an awards dinner.
“It was great day all around,” said Hankin. “My family is incredibly proud of how much the outing has grown over time. We look forward to next year and hope to set yet another record.”

Hankin Group has officially begun construction on the first phase of its latest community, River Station.
The mixed-use, transit-oriented project will ultimately include more than 400 luxury apartments and 10,000 square feet of retail space and encompass the future site of the new Downingtown train station. It will also feature a pedestrian bridge connecting Johnsontown Park to the east bank of the Brandywine Creek.
The site will be revitalized to offer a new kind of urban development for the borough and surrounding communities.
Hankin Group is excited about this prime location — in heart of Downingtown, near restaurants, businesses, and more — and is committed to the communities it is a part of.
“The opportunity to build a mixed-use development next to a train station in a great place like Downingtown doesn’t come around often,” said Neal Fisher, Hankin Group’s Vice President of Development. “We are truly excited to become a bigger part of the Downingtown community and look forward to developing a first-rate Transit-Oriented Development at the site of what we hope will be the new train station.”
The first phase of River Station is projected to open in the spring of 2023. It will include 203 luxury apartments and be the newest multi-family community to join Hankin Apartments’ award-winning portfolio. Apartment amenities will include a state-of-the-art clubhouse with resident lounges, fitness and yoga studios, work share spaces, a private viewing room, private conference room, resort-style pool, pet spa, and more.
The first phase will also include divisible retail space in two buildings totaling approximately 10,000 square feet.
